I was only 9 when I first heard "California Love" by 2pac in '96, and immediately fell in love with the sound of Hip-Hop. I could only understand so much English back then, considering I had just moved from Mexico only a few years earlier, but what I did know was that I wanted to be apart of this thing called "Hip-Hop"
I started writing down lyrics around that age but nothing ever came of it and after a few months, I left the "rhyme book" alone. It wasn't until I was a teenager and was dealing with family issues that I picked up the pen and the pad again. I really needed a way to vent my feelings and music was the right outlet for me. This time though, I took it a step further and connected myself musically with 2 friends of mine and we created a group by the name of Elevation 420.
Locally, we were getting recognition as a decent rap group and were blessed with countless opportunities to perform. By 2009, our group was sized down to just E-Dub and I and the opportunities continued to come our way. As Elevation 420, E-Dub and I have had the chances to open up for artists such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Tech N9ne, Krizz Kaliko, Jay Rock, Chingo Bling, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Ying Yang Twins, and countless others.
Not all things last and I found myself as a solo artist again by 2013 until a chance meeting with a good friend ended up in a partnership and the beginning of Never Stop Chasin'. We always wanted to start something that would eventually give us an opportunity to help create a platform for a new generation of artists. And now, it's slowly starting to come to fruition. Let's see how far we can build this thing.
